"Really great to visit Greene Rubber in Danielson today. The manufacturer is seeing huge growth through their work building submarine components for Electric Boat, other suppliers across eastern Connecticut, and around the country.  Since I last visited a few years ago, Greene Rubber’s workforce has doubled in size to 150 employees. They are expanding to a new 30k sq/ft Plainfield facility and adding second and third shifts to complete new work orders.  Shipbuilding is driving economic growth in all corners of Connecticut’s Second District!"

"Last week, I was honored to receive the Connecticut Nurses Association’s Agnes Ohlson Award for Political Action. The CT Nurses Association are the staunchest of advocates for the caring profession. For years, they have been critical supporters of my Workplace Violence Prevention bill in Congress, and recently, they were leaders in the fight against the Dep. of Education’s insulting and harmful attempt to exclude advanced practice nursing degrees from a list of “professional” degrees."

"People didn’t believe that Electric Boat could hire 8,000 new employees in a single year. Thanks to eastern Connecticut’s skills training programs, improved wages funded by Congress and secured through collective bargaining, and a decades-long demand signal from July’s $76.6B construction contract for 14 new submarines, the next generation of highly skilled shipbuilders and engineers are proving the naysayers wrong."

"Expanding access to affordable housing is critical to meeting the needs of southeastern Connecticut’s growing workforce. I visited the Horizon View housing development in Montville to see progress on 57 new apartments coming to the community. With 80% of the units designated as affordable housing, including apartments set aside for adults with developmental disabilities, this project will help more individuals and families find quality housing."

STATEMENTJUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

"Safe Futures is taking a major step toward strengthening services for survivors of abuse. I toured the construction site of the amazing new Center for Safe Futures in Waterford with CEO Kathie Verano. The Center will bring more than 20 community partners under one roof to provide coordinated services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and other forms of abuse. Services will include on-site police, prosecutors, crisis intervention, with a virtual courtroom, housing assistance, mental health services, and childcare. The center is scheduled to open in fall 2027."

"After 40 years, train service is returning to Enfield.  The new Enfield Train Station will connect the largest town in the Second Congressional District to Hartford Line service and drive economic growth in Thompsonville. It’s really the poster child for transit-oriented development."
