"Sending heartfelt congratulations to my new colleagues and all of our returning members, as well as to the deeply relieved nation they serve! Election Day 2026 was a story of history, which was made in every corner of the country. From witnessing the first Native American woman and the first Black women ascend to the governorship, to electing more Black women to the U.S. Senate than ever before, to securing the different futures for Texas and Georgia that eluded generations of voters, to so many more trails blazed and milestones made, it is undeniable that we built a new era in America last night – and it will be unlike any that has ever come before it. Trust that we will stop this administration’s vicious agenda in its tracks. We will hold this president and his cabinet accountable for their bottomless cruelty and corruption, we will prove to the American people that Democrats deserve this great responsibility they have entrusted to us, and we will continue to make history when we elect Brooklyn’s own Hakeem Jeffries as our first Black Speaker of the House! On to the 120th Congress!"

"Thank you to the great people of New York’s 9th Congressional District for entrusting me with an 11th term as our community’s federal representative in Washington, DC! Brooklyn has always been, and will always be, my home. To serve the many decent, diverse, and spirited peoples of our borough, whom I am privileged to call my neighbors, is both a blessing and the honor of my life. When I return to the upcoming Congress, I pledge to continue the work of advancing our progressive agenda, standing firm against oppressive actions and regressive ideologies, and upholding the highest ideals of those who helped build Brooklyn into the beautiful, vibrant community we are proud to call home."

"Once again, Donald Trump has proven the safest election is the one farthest from his reach. Always remember that your vote is yours alone — no matter what he, or the so-called “election monitors” infiltrating our communities and intimidating our neighbors have to say about it."

"I’ve always believed that every new chapter in a woman’s life should be cause for celebration. Yet, as a woman who has confronted it herself, I can personally attest to the stigmatization and isolation women undergoing menopause feel nearly every day. For too long, we have been left to face our menopause symptoms alone, without the proper guidance or support we need to embrace all life has in store. That is why I introduced the bipartisan Menopause Awareness Resolution to permanently establish October as Menopause Awareness Month, so that we might begin to break the stigma, build solidarity, and achieve an America where no woman navigating menopause does it by herself. We should not have to suffer in silence just to make it easier for men to ignore our pain. It’s time to speak up, speak out, and stand with our sisters at every step of their menopause journeys. It’s time we start celebrating this Menopause Awareness Month!"

"Vote like our rights are under attack, because they are. Vote like authoritarians want to stop you, because they do. Vote like the future is on the line, because it is. On Tuesday, VOTE!"

STATEMENTIMMIGRATION

"Mental illnesses already take too much from those burdened by them, and yet, now the Trump Administration believes it should take their citizenship, too. Here is the truth: Phillip James is a native son of Florida. ICE agents, who know full well he was not born in Jamaica, remain relentless in their efforts to expel him from his home nation of America. An ethical immigration system would not punish a sick man for the delusions caused by his disease. It would not tolerate cruelty driven by convenience, or lawlessness centered in carelessness. It would not allow for each and every evil this administration stands for. Enough is enough – for all those whose stories of abuse and mistreatment from ICE have gone unheard, and for Mr. James, who deserves the opportunity to heal beyond the confines of a cold cell that he has no business being in."

"Dolores Huerta was a woman of unparalleled conviction, unshakeable courage, and, perhaps above all, unlimited compassion. Her work as Co-Founder of United Farm Workers and throughout her 96 years transformed our nation’s labor movement and fundamentally altered the course of the 20th Century. Indeed, today’s America was built upon Ms. Huerta's lifetime of service and advocacy. Tomorrow’s must be shaped by the blueprint she left behind.   I stand alongside countless others in grieving the passing of this true hero of our history, as well as the loss of her moral, principled leadership at a time when it is most needed."
